Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 4, 2026

Lineage helps families turn personal stories, photos, and voices into narrated movies. Because the content you trust us with is unusually personal, we want to be plain about what we collect, why, and what we will and will not do with it.

This Privacy Policy describes how Lineage (“Lineage,” “we,” “our”) handles information when you use our website, applications, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Your name, email address, password credentials, and other profile details you choose to add.
  • Text, conversations, prompts, and narrative material you create or upload while building a chapter or movie.
  • Photos and video clips you upload to illustrate your stories, including images of other people you have authority to share.
  • Voice recordings used to generate narration, and the synthetic voice (“voice clone”) created from them. See Section 5 on voice and biometric data.
  • Billing details when you subscribe. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; we do not see or store your full card number, only a token, the last four digits, brand, and billing status.
  • Messages you send us through support email or in-product feedback.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and log data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring pages, and timestamps. Used for security, debugging, and aggregate analytics.
  • A small number of strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Information from third parties

  • If you sign in with a third-party identity provider, we receive the basic profile information that provider shares, usually your name and email.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information you give us for two purposes, and two purposes only.

First, to run Lineage for you. That includes generating scripts, narration, and finished videos from the content you upload, authenticating your account, processing payments, sending transactional emails, and responding when you ask for help.

Second, to improve the platform, but only using anonymized, aggregate data (for example, the average number of photos per chapter). We do not read individual stories, voice recordings, or photos to inform product decisions.

We do not use your content to train AI models, target advertising, build profiles for sale, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Service.

3. Who Can See Your Content

Your stories, photos, and voice recordings are visible to you, to the people you choose to share a finished movie with, and to the automated systems and processors described in Section 8 when their access is needed to deliver the Service.

Lineage employees do not browse your content. A small number of authorized staff may access specific items only when:

  • You ask for support and the issue requires it (we’ll tell you).
  • We’re investigating abuse, fraud, or a security incident.
  • We’re required to by valid legal process.

All such access is logged.

4. AI Processing

Lineage uses artificial intelligence to help write scripts, generate narration, search public image libraries, and assemble videos. To do this, the content you provide is sent to AI service providers that operate strictly as our processors under contract.

  • We instruct our AI providers not to use your content to train their models, using enterprise/zero-retention API settings where available.
  • AI-generated narration and AI-generated text are produced from your inputs. They may contain inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before sharing the resulting movie.

5. Voice and Biometric Data

Voice recordings used to create a personalized narrator may qualify as biometric identifiers under laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the Texas CUBI Act, and similar Washington and Oregon statutes. We treat them with heightened care.

  • Before creating a voice clone, you must confirm that the voice belongs to you, or that you have the documented permission of the speaker. Cloning the voice of a deceased relative requires the same authority from the person legally empowered to act on their behalf.
  • Voice samples are used solely to generate narration for your project. They are not used to identify, surveil, or authenticate any person.
  • Voice synthesis is performed by ElevenLabs, acting as our processor.
  • Voice samples and the resulting voice model are retained while your account is active and the voice is in use, and are deleted within thirty (30) days after you delete the voice or terminate your account, except where retention is required by law.
  • We will not sell, lease, or otherwise disclose biometric data to third parties for their own purposes. Disclosure is limited to our processors and to compliance with valid legal process.

6. Content About Other People

Lineage is built around stories that include other people: parents, grandparents, children, friends. By uploading photos, videos, voices, or stories that depict another person, you represent that you have the authority to do so and to allow Lineage to process that content to produce a video for you.

If you believe content about you has been uploaded without your permission, contact krishinparikh@gmail.com and we will investigate and, where appropriate, remove it.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Adults may include images or stories about minors in their projects, provided they have the authority to do so, usually as a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Sharing With Service Providers

We share information only with vendors that need it to run the Service. The categories of providers we use are:

  • Authentication, database, and file storage.
  • Payment processing.
  • Voice synthesis and voice cloning. We currently use ElevenLabs for this purpose. Because voice data may qualify as biometric, we identify this provider by name; if we change providers, we’ll update this Policy and notify you.
  • AI providers for script drafting, conversation, and content generation, under zero-retention and no-training terms where available.
  • Cloud hosting and content delivery.
  • Email delivery for transactional messages.

Each provider is bound by contract to use information only for the purposes we instruct. To request the current list of named providers, email krishinparikh@gmail.com.

9. International Transfers

Lineage is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

10. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for stored content, scoped access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

11. Retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from production systems within a reasonable period and from backups within 90 days, except where law requires longer retention. Voice clones follow the schedule in Section 5.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of “sharing”. We do not share for cross-context behavioral advertising. EU/UK residents have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR.

To exercise any of these rights, email krishinparikh@gmail.com from the email associated with your account. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or through the Service before they take effect. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
